At 4:45 today Teddy called and said that my mother in law was on the way to watch the baby so I could go out to see the horses since its such beautiful day and I haven’t been able to get out because he has been working so much. ( He watches the baby while I go to the barn). How good is he? Serious brownie points!
I spend much of the time mucking out the paddocks as usual but it was really nice to see them both and get a pulse on how they are doing.. This can be a tricky time of year for Clyde since he is older and has had trouble with the changes in weather int he past. I feel that he is a lot healthier this fall and he will be fine. He does have a little respiratory jingle right now but I’m hoping it will go away in a few days. Casper is as Capser does…always pretty much the same-perfect.
Clyde really wanted to play today. He kept following me around when I was mucking out. Now i know he wanted the rest of his dinner, but begging is really not his style. I’m going to chalk it up to partnership and the great relationship we have!
I brushed him down, saddled him up and gave him a few minutes in the clover pasture before leading him into the “arena”. I didn’t ask too much of him since it was getting pretty dark by this time, but he did shake out the rattle in his nose and was very agreeable. Before I got on we played the “put your nose on that” game. He did really well! He even touched his nose to a notoriously live pasture tape. I asked him to trust me, that it would be fine, and he did it. I love Clyde so much.
I’ve taken to singing for a while after I get on to calm me down and send him the message as well. It has been working very well. Today was some variation on a Sinatra song. I think Clyde is a Tony Bennett fan(sic). I thanked him too for being such a good friend and for opening my heart enough to allow Nina to happen to me, for preparing me for her and caring for me through all of my transitions. Clyde is a healer, I think that is why he has some world weariness. He is definitely a partner and my spiritual guide. I respect him and love him so much.
The ride was short but sweet. We ended on a nice note then I took a bit of extra time brushing him down and picking his feet.
I wish I could spend more time with them, its coming, I know.
