Jeff came home and I went out to the Barn..turns out its a good thing I did! I forgot that Terri is out of town and I’ll be feeding for a few days. I took Clyde to the Arena and did some fun ground work around barrels. He is fine with upright obstacles. Its the poles he does not like. Its consistent. I’m not suprised now that I look back. Before I was doing Parelli out at CCEC I rode Clyde over poles for a trail class and he flipped out. I fell off and landed on my rump. I screamed and couldn’t move for a few minutes. Samantha thought I was really hurt. I didn’t know at that point. That was right before our trip to Ireland. Thank God for Parelli. I’d never put myself in that position now, or Clyde for that matter. Too bad I didn’t find out that I broke my tail bone until my midwife had her hand up there and I was in Labor with my daughter three years later! Ahhh!
So anyway, after the ground work, I got on him and we did some nice walking. I wore my paddock boots today and boy did it make a difference to me. I felt more balanced and in control. I also felt much lighter in the saddle. I really feel like I had a good solid seat today. I was relaxed. It helped that I kept breathing and even singing at one point. When I started singing Clyde really let it out and relaxed. That’s when I asked for the trot. Boy do we have a nice floaty collected trot now. Its amazing. I feel so connected to him. It feels like he wants to go and he really gets it that I’m asking him to collect. The trot is nice and slow which I love. It ended on a very good note.
I fed them both then got Casper out. I collected myself and bulldozed him into the front pasture. We played a lot of the ‘you can eat but when i ask you have to move game’ it went really well. Then I bulldozed him back his stall. A good day.
